James McNamara
McNamara has worked as a security guard since
1986, making him one of the most veteran artists and protection
personnel. His vibrantly colorful narrative and impressionist pieces
include landscapes of Shaker Lakes. "I come from Cleveland, where there
are so many gray days," he says. "I need color to keep me upbeat."
For the past two decades, McNamara has organized
shows of Cleveland Museum of Art employees. "[The museum] is like a
mecca for artists," he says. "The nature of the place attracts creative
people. It's inspiring to spend your days looking at paintings by the
best of the best."
